Hey you reader! found baking is a blog dedicated to my love of baking. I called it “found” because through this blog, I will share stories on how I found joy and fulfillment through life experiences with my friends and families and most importantly share with you how I found my true obsession in life – baking. Growing up, I watched my grandmother, mother, and aunt bake simple goodies in our small kitchen and seeing them create magical goodies enamored me early on. I’ve always been fascinated with cooking demo shows too as a kid. I started baking immediately after college when I finally had the “free” time to test recipes (being a student council officer back in college kept me a little too busy).

I work in the advertising industry and have been doing so since early 2005. In 2007-2008, I decided to study Patisserie and Baking at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Los Angeles while working full-time at an ad agency in Orange County, CA. Going to pastry school while working full-time was the most intense yet most satisfying time of my life. Despite lack of sleep (I went to school at nights and weekends), irregular eating schedules, hectic lifestyle having to juggle client presentations and homework, I still found enjoyment and satisfaction standing in the school kitchen at 11pm.

After I graduated, I told myself I’ll transition from advertising to culinary as a career. Possibly work at a high-end restaurant or maybe get a loan and start a bakery. It’s been a few years since my school days and I have not started a baking business. It’s way harder than I thought (I’m too chicken to get a loan).

Now I continue to bake at home for my family and friends and I share most of my creations here with you. Maybe when I’m 40 I’ll be brave enough to quit my day job and make this baking biz dream a reality. Scratch that… maybe when I’m 45.

Come back often.

Your pictures are fabulous do you take them yourself? I commend you for your accomplishments as I know graduating from culinary school takes much hard work. My daughter is in her final year of culinary school. She has gotten her pastry degree and is now working on her business degree giving her a bachelors degree. I only hope she is a s successful as you are along with enjoying her learned talents. Wishing you further success and happiness for the future.

Hi Marjorie! Yes, I take the pictures myself… using a handy-dandy point and shoot camera (for now). Saving up for a better camera.

That’s great to hear that your daughter is almost done. Hope she is learning as much as she can learn. Thank you so much for the kind words. You seriously made my day today, just reading your comment. I appreciate your kind words. I wish your daughter lots of success too. Keep me posted on what’s going on with her. Visit here again soon!
